Valentin Yudashkin Ready-to-Wear Fall-winter 2013-2014

The collection is an ode to winter. “The winter of Russian folklore tales inspired the collection,” says the designer. “Snow-covered landscapes, the striking perfection of icicles, and an icy colour scheme are thus reflected in the collection.”

Wool, crepe de chine and cashmere are paired with chiffons, layered silks, and fine Chantilly lace. Duchesse satins and metallic taffetas add a regal touch, whilst stretch and 3D-effect fabrics render the collection utterly modern.

The colour palette of the collection is one of refined frosty shades: icy white, pearly grey, and smoky blue.

The use of fur, a staple of the Russian winter, adds a cozy touch to the collection: models brave the elements in white mink and black fox.

The winter motif is continued with the original prints created by the designer which abstractly reflect snowflakes and the graphic geometry of icicles.

The collection offers coats and jackets with embellished collars in lace-effect layered fabrics, paired with hand-woven accessories. A wide variety of skirts, short and trousers, are styled with oversized masculine shirts and unstructured jackets with exaggerated shoulders - a clear nod to the nineties.

Crystals, pearls, sequins and metallic threads embellish the collection like a dusting of frost. Swarovski mesh is used to create the effect of hundreds of glistening ice crystals.

Traditional Russian kokochniki hats are delicately embellished, and muffs and berets in white mink are decorated with pompoms. Heels in metallic leathers and boots trimmed in white llama fur complete the glacial collection.

The key accessory of the collection remains the ‘Happy bag by Valentin Yudashkin’ in metallic silver leather.
